Aluminum Metal 3D Printing

Aluminum 3D Printing: Stable and leight

Aluminum has special chemical and physical properties, including good ductility, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and heat resistance. 3D printed aluminum alloy powder has good mechanical properties and is often used for parts required with high-stability, light weight.

What types of Aluminum are optimal for 3D printing?

The aluminum alloy formed by the powder metallurgy process is different from traditional aluminum alloy in that it can form 3D models at high temperatures. In the industrial appliactions we take AlSi10Mg as the main type of AL for metal 3D printing process , Due to the tiny powder particles, the mechanical properties of 3D printed metal parts are better than traditional ones. High-temperature resistant, ultra-high-strength aluminum alloy can be used to replace titanium alloy or steel used below 315°C in the aviation and aerospace fields to achieve weight reduction and cost reduction.

AlSi10Mg
High performance and light weight

There are relatively few options for aluminum alloys used for metal additive manufacturing. The AlSi10Mg powder is added with 5% Mg and 10% Si, which improves the hardness and strength properties of the alloy. AlSi10Mg is easily oxidized during the printing process, processing process, and surface treatment. After printing is completed, heat treatment is generally required to strengthen the alloy, stabilize the structure and part size, and eliminate stress. In order to further improve the surface quality, post-processing by grinding and sandblasting can also be performed.
