Titanium Alloy Metal 3D Printing

Titanium 3D Printing: Strength-to-weight ratio

Titanium alloy is perfect for high-end production because of its exceptional mechanical qualities and high strength-to-mass ratio. Titanium alloy 3D printed parts, particularly in the aerospace and medical sectors, not only have excellent mechanical qualities but also much lower quality. Furthermore, titanium alloys have excellent mechanical properties, strong resistance to heat and corrosion, and exceptional heat resistance.

What types of Titanium alloys are optimal for 3D printing?

3D printing provides the possibility to manufacture parts with complex geometry, while at the same time reducing the loss of expensive metals, especially titanium alloys. In metal 3D printing, TC4 (Ti64 G5) material and TA1 are two commonly used materials. TC4 has an aluminum component, which has a better strength-to-mass ratio and is often used in the manufacturing of lightweight parts. TA1 is pure titanium without additives, which has good ductility and excellent corrosion resistance. No matter what type of titanium alloy they are, they can work at high-temperature environments and are particularly suitable for the manufacture of engine parts.

TC4
Light-Weight design

Lightweight has optimal strength-to-weight ratio to meed the requirement with light weight. Utilizing the SLM 3D printed titanium alloy TC4 can not only reduce the overall weight of the product, achieve energy conservation and emission reduction, but also have both economic and environmental benefits. Because titanium alloys are relatively expensive, they are not suitable for traditional CNC machining processes, which will result in immense waste of material. 3D printed TC4 parts offer a great oppertunities for light-weight design in aerospace to cut down the whole investment.

Industrial applications: Aerospace, marine and medical, aircraft turbines, engine parts and automatic components

TA1
titanium-based metal powder

TA1 is a titanium-based metal powder widely used in metal additive manufacturing . It is a commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) grade consisting primarily of titanium and small amounts of other elements. TA1 titanium-based metal powder is a multifunctional material that has attracted attention due to its high purity, excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. In the field of biomedicine, due to its biocompatibility, TA1 is often used in the design and manufacturing of implanted parts in the body, such as lattice bones and bionic parts.
